Three-lamp brass ceiling light in the shape of a holly branch. From a twisted brass shaft, a horizontally extending wreath of curved branches emerges, adorned with jagged holly leaves and red glass berries.

Leaves and branches are painted green; shaft, cuffs, and rosette remain in bare brass. The red glass berries are arranged individually and in clusters among the leaves, catching the light from the bulbs. The ceiling rose repeats the leaf and berry motif in miniature.

The three light sources are directed downwards and arranged between the branches. The original B22 sockets are preserved. The lamp has been rewired; the painted finish has been cleaned and restored.

About the Motif

Holly is a traditional winter symbol. Evergreen foliage and red berries represent constancy and hope in the cold season. In the USA, holly (mostly American holly) is one of the most popular Christmas symbols of all; Holly Day is celebrated there on December 19.
